Who are these custom plans for?
Anybody looking to eat healthier — whether for weight loss purposes or just start feeling better. The customization options allow you to specify the calorie deficit you want, meaning they're great regardless of your specific health goal.
There are some other meal planners out there — why is this one so much better?
That's right, there are meal planners out there. However, there are none that provide the kind of total customization that this one does. Our plans just feel different, with a very personal touch, as though a close friend (who also happens to be a nutritionist or dietician) put it together by hand, day by day and meal by meal, with loving care.
What's the difference between a Deluxe and Basic plan?
While both plans are tailored to your body and custom daily calorie target, and both generate a plan with all the meals you need, our Deluxe plans can be personalized even further — taking into account any special diet (such as vegetarian or vegan), your allergies, as well as your food preferences (i.e. food likes and dislikes). In addition to all that customization, our Deluxe meal plans come with full recipes (with detailed cooking instructions) and weekly grocery lists to boot.
With a meal plan am I guaranteed to lose weight?
Unfortunately, no, since everybody's body and situation are different, there are no guarantees that this will work for you. There are just so many factors that go into weight loss. However, we can promise that — assuming you choose a good daily calorie target and you are following your plan closely — a meal plan will give you an excellent chance of losing weight.
Will I feel hungry all the time while following this plan?
Absolutely not! This is not your "traditional" diet. Our plans are not restrictive. They don't adhere to any of those extreme "fad" diets you hear about — they don't cut out carbs, they don't eliminate all fat, they aren't a "juice cleanse" or anything like that. Instead, they follow the "Bow Health approach": eating healthy, balanced meals at regular intervals — simply making the healthy choices when possible.
Our plans are designed to be well-balanced and spaced in to enough meals throughout the day to curb feelings of hunger. However, if you still find yourself experiencing uncomfortable feelings of hunger at certain times, there are some things you can do to help. One way is to add extra ingredients (from the freebies) to your meals. You can also, in many cases, increase your portions of veggies, which will work wonders on helping you to feel fuller longer.
How many meals are included in the plans?
It depends on which length you choose. Our plans are either for a week (7 days) or a month (30 days). Each day consists of five meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 2 snacks. Therefore, our week- and month-long plans include 35 and 150 meals total, respectively — each one customized according to your body's specific daily calorie needs.
I'm not a very good cook. Will I have trouble making these meals?
No! The meals in our plans have been designed with simplicity in mind. Our goal was to create the healthiest, simplest meals possible.
Do I have to follow this plan exactly?
You should try to follow your custom plan as closely as possible. Doing so will give you the best chance of seeing the kind of results you're looking for. However, you are able to make certain changes as needed (e.g. subbing strawberries for raspberries, using a wrap instead of bread, etc.), but be sure that the exchanged food/meal has a similar amount of calories and is comparable in nutrient content. It's really up to you. You can follow it as closely as you wish. While some people follow it to the letter, others use it simply as a framework, for healthy meal ideas and alongside their own meal planning. It's really up to you.
Will every meal in my plan be different?
We do our absolute best to make each and every meal included in your plan — from the dinners right down to the snacks — totally unique from the others. However, due to customization settings, it's not always possible. For example, if someone is allergic to wheat and dairy, and only likes meals with chicken, our algorithms may have difficulty finding 30 days worth of unique meals to satisfy those customizations. But know that you are given every matching unique meal before any repeats are added.
Can I drink coffee while following a meal plan?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it — especially if you're making the switch from sugar-filled caffeinated beverages like soda (awesome!). Coffee has 0 calories and is listed on our Freebie List. (You can check out what other foods/ingredients are considered "freebies" here.)
