Finding the Best Commercial Juicer
Juicing is the latest craze among many health enthusiasts, and for good reason: juicing has many benefits for your health. A commercial juicer can be a great way to squeeze out a ton of juice and supercharge your health.
However, with so many juicing machines available for purchase, it can be difficult to filter out the good and the bad and decide which juicer is the best value for the money. So to help you out with this, we checked out tons of juicers on the market today and picked out some of our favorite models.
But before we get to our recommended top juicing machines, let's talk a bit more about juicers, what they are and why you would want to use one.
What is Juicing?
Most people know that eating more fruits and vegetables is a healthy thing to do, but many people have trouble getting in enough servings of each every day. A way to get all the benefits of fruits and vegetables is by juicing, and in order to juice you must have the necessary equipment — i.e. a juicer.
If you're wondering what a juicer is exactly, it's a piece of machinery that takes whole fruits and vegetables and separates the juice from the fiber, essentially extracting the liquid from the fruit and/or vegetable and therefore providing most of the vitamins and minerals. While consuming enough fiber is a very important part of a healthy diet, having too much fiber in your diet can have consequences, too.
By using a juicer, you can create fresh, highly concentrated, very nutrient-dense beverages that taste great and have a positive impact on your health, since juicing is said to have many benefits. While research is careful to point out that juicing is not any healthier than eating whole fruits and vegetables, it does indicate that juicing can be a beneficial alternative for those who have difficulty eating fruits and vegetables whole. Scientific studies have repeatedly shown that consuming more fruits and vegetables (including in juice form) has beneficial effects on the immune system as well as in achieving and/or maintaining a healthy weight.
Do I need a juicer?
While a juicer isn't a requirement for a healthy diet, consuming adequate fruits and vegetables is required. According to the latest recommendations, people should aim for five to thirteen servings of fruits and vegetables per day. If you have difficulty eating this quantity every day, then a juicer could help you reach that daily goal.
Types of Juicers
There are two main types of juicers:
- Centrifugal Juicers
- Masticating Juicers (also called cold press juicers)
Let's talk a little about the differences between these two types.
A centrifugal juice extractor is the most common type of juicer. It creates juice by first grating the fruit or vegetable into pulp and then spinning (where the term "centrifugal" comes from) this pulp rapidly to extract the juice from it.
Usually centrifugal juicers are cheaper than masticating juicers. For those who know they want to buy this type of juicer, check out our list of the best centrifugal juicers.
While centrifugal juicers work fine for many consumers in getting juice out of soft produce, most commercial juicers are cold-press juicers because they tend to work better, with higher quality juice (the cold temperature helps the juice to retain more nutrients) as well as better juicer performance.
Cold press juicers (i.e. masticating juice machines) are a new type of juicer that crushes the fruit and vegetables and then presses them for a rather high juice yield. Because of the lower temperatures possible with a cold press juicer, a higher nutrient content is maintained in the juice.
Again, cold press juicing machines tend to be more expensive than centrifugal juicers, but with that higher price you're getting better machine performance, juice yield, and higher nutritional content in the juice.
Regular Juicers vs Commercial Juicers
A "commercial" juicing machine is simply a professional-grade juicer that functions at commercial capacity, squeezing a ton of juice in a relatively short period of time — certainly when compared to a regular consumer juice machine.
A professional-grade juicer are usually necessary for businesses as well as for people who juice regularly.
Our Best Juicing Machine Pick
Out of all the juicers we reviewed, our pick for top juicing machine is the Commercial Masticating Juicer by Omega.
This is a very high-quality juicer, with an impressive juice yield, that is also intuitive and easy to use. In addition to juices, this juicing machine — which Omega calls the "Nutrition Center" — can be used to grind spices and coffee, and to turn nuts into nut butters, allowing you to make homemade peanut butter, almond butter, or almost any kind of nut butter imagineable. The price is about the middle of the range, which is very reasonable considering its high performance.
Overall, a great juicer. Check it out now or feel free to browse our other top recommended juicers.
